Modern softeners can automate much of this process. Some models monitor water consumption and determine when regeneration is needed instead of following a simple fixed schedule.

The technology is well established, but the system still needs to be sized correctly. A softener that’s too small may regenerate frequently, while an unnecessarily large unit can cost more than needed.

Testing Should Come Before Treatment
